A breezy ocean wedding

I love being a part of weddings so I was thrilled when Don and Louise called me and asked if I would decorate their wedding.   I was a little overwhelmed tho, so I asked my wonderful and talented cousin, Nicole to help me on this project.

We couldn’t have asked for better clients.  Don and Louise were so fun and open to any ideas we had.  In fact after the first visit we had with them where we met at the Kingfisher Oceanside Resort and Spa, and told them a few ideas we had, they didn’t want to know anything more.  This was also a bit daunting, but a very interesting challenge we had to overcome.  In the end it was amazing and too see how surprised and delighted they both were, it was definitely worth it for them and for us.

Don and Louise only had a couple of things they wanted, a beach theme and peacock colours.  The rest was up to us.

We had fun coming up with some special touches.  Like this sign which pointed to both their home towns in Nautical Miles, something we thought we resonate with them as they both work for an airline.  We also added in some French touches as Louise’s family is from Quebec.  And sun umbrellas for Nana, Don’s 98 year old grandma who couldn’t stay out in the sun too long.

I think our favourite part was the dance party.  They got married in front of the gazebo in the courtyard and then enjoyed dinner on the patio.  They were then lead down to the sandpiper room to dance the night away.  We made colourful pompoms and strung them up to the ceiling with mini lights to create an atmosphere fit for these two love birds.  A huge thanks to the Kingfisher Oceanside Resort and spa they were so wonderful to work with and what a gorgeous place to tie the not.  Another thank you to Lee at Always Invited Event Rentals for all the rentals: table runners, napkins  charger plates, chair ties, bar tables and bar chairs, if you need any rentals for an upcoming event be sure to check her out.
