Brunch in the Garden, Bridal Shower

My best friend Danielle was getting married,  and as Maid of Honour I wanted to throw her the best bridal shower and staggette I could.  With the help from the other bridesmaids, Mariah Meyers and Bethany Farnell, we planned two events that would happen on one weekend we hoped Danielle would love.

Lots of ideas were thrown around, but we wanted to make sure that Danielle would really enjoy both of these parties.  We decided to have the staggette over on Tree Island for the day.  We got Mariah’s husband and friend to boat us over and we spent the day on the beach with a gas powered blender making Miami Vises (If you are unsure of what this is, they are delicious and simple to make.  Make a batch of strawberry Daiquiris and a batch of Pina Coladas fill the glass up with half of each, and enjoy!) and barbecuing burgers.  It was a beautiful day and just right for Danielle.

The next day we had the bridal shower in my backyard.  We decided a brunch party would be fitting and fun.  The menu was waffles, eggs, bacon, fruit, mimosas and for our gluten intolerant friends, gluten free waffles too!  It is always nice The lovely Katie even made cupcakes for desert.

The girls helped me create a fun back drop out of crate paper, which also hid some walls and shed that weren’t so pretty.  It worked great and made the space feel completely different.  We also set up a few lawn games around the yard for people to play while we got brunch together.

We included recipe cards with the invitations, so that guests could leave a favourite recipe or “their husbands favourite” recipe for the couple.   As a gift, we decided that what Danielle and Wayne needed most, was some time away, as they were not going on a honeymoon right away.  I talked to the lovely ladies at the King Fisher Spa and Resort and we set up an account.  Each person was then able to phone in and put towards the gift as much as they were able.  We ended up sending Danielle and Wayne to the Kingfisher for a three night stay, including a West Coast Hydropath. The weekend was a success and so much fun for all.

We Love you guys!

Thank you to all the ladies who helped, and to Mrs. Dorran for taking photos with my camera! Thanks to Lee at Always Invited Event Rentals, for the rentals of the dishes, glass wear and cutlery, it really added polished feel to the event.
